







About AgriAgri is a border province in eastern Turkey, bordering Iran to the east, Kars to the North, Erzurum to the Northeast, Mus and Bitlis to the Southeast, Van to the south, and Igdir to the northeast. The provincial capital is Agri, situated on a 1,650 m. high plateau. The Province is named after the majestic Mount Ararat ("Agri" in Turkish, derived from Agirî in Kurdish meaning firey, referring to Ararat being a volcano), a 5,165 m. high stratovolcano that can be seen from parts of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran. The region was a host to numerous civilizations throughout history, and as such, is one of the important tourist centres in eastern Turkey offering activities of mountain climbing and trekking in summers, and skiing in winters.
