About Adana
Adana Province is a province located in south-eastern Turkey. The provinces adjacent to it are Mersin to the west,
Hatay to the southeast, Osmaniye to the east, Kahramanmaras to the northeast, and Kayseri to the north. Its capital is
the city of Adana. NATO's Incirlik Air Base is located within this province.
Other important cities in this province include Ayas/Issus, and Kozan (formerly Sis).
The name of Adana is thought to come from Adanus, the son of Uranus (the Greek god of heaven).
Adana is famous for its kebab and salgam. Salgam is a salty purple juice made from purple carrots.
Osmaniye Province was formerly part of Adana Province.
