About Istanbul
Istanbul Province is a province located in north-west Turkey. It has an area of 5,110 km2 and a population of 10,018,735 (2000 census).
It is surrounded by the provinces of Tekirdag to the west, and Kocaeli to the east, the Black Sea to the north, and the Sea of Marmara
to the south. The Bosphorus (Bogaziçi) Strait divides the province in two parts, one in Asia, and one in Europe. The capital of the
province is the city of Istanbul.
